Project Description 

The project addresses the priority of “Environment and fight against climate change” by building capacity and raising awareness about the impact of climate change on migration. By doing so, the project seeks to increase interest and engagement with the topic of climate change as a driver of migration both at organization and community levels. This will contribute to broader efforts to mitigate and adapt to the impacts of climate change.

The project also addresses the priority of “Supporting teachers, school leaders and other teaching professions” by building capacity thanks to the developing of the publication and the toolkit. This will support these professionals in addressing the link between climate change and migration. By providing resources and guidance, the project seeks to enhance the capacity of these professionals to address the critical issue of climate change-induced migration and the consequent social injustice.

By facilitating the sharing of knowledge and expertise among participants, the project seeks to enhance the quality of education and training related to this issue, which could also have broader benefits for addressing educational disadvantage and improving basic skills. As a matter of fact, by being aware of the multidimensional factors that push people to leave their countries and by building capacity, school teachers, youth workers, social workers, and trainers can better adapt the training contents to their students.

Finally, the project also addresses the “Inclusion and diversity in all fields of education, training, youth and sport” by promoting increased cooperation and innovation in promoting inclusion and diversity at organizational level and policies in the field of education and training, with a specific focus on the intersection of climate change and migration.

This project wants to contribute to increased cooperation and innovation in promoting inclusion and diversity at organizational and policy levels in the field of education and training.The project aims to build capacity on awareness raising within educational community about the impact of climate change as a driver of migration, in order to increase interest and engagement with the issue.

To achieve its objectives, a range of activities will be implemented. These include conducting a review of existing knowledge on the impact of climate change on migration, developing awareness-raising materials, organizing training sessions and workshops, facilitating exchange of practices among stakeholders, and disseminating project results to relevant audiences through various channels. A project website and social media accounts to ensure wider dissemination will also be established.

The expected results of the project are to having developed 1 publication about the impact of climate change on migration, 1 toolkit on how to support school teachers, trainers, youth workers and social workers addressing the link between climate change and migration. Besides, it will also deliver 1 study visit in Ethiopia, 1 international workshop in Belgium, 6 local workshops and 6 webinars.
