We Have Officially Kicked Off — and We’re Just Getting Started!

The Premieres of Diversity project has officially launched! Last month, partners from Malta, Brussels, Athens, Vienna, Bordeaux, and our team gathered in Vienna for our first kick-off meeting — an energising moment that brought us all onto the same page and set the project in motion.

Premieres of Diversity — full title: Youths’ Premieres on Culture In Difference in Ethnic Diasporas to foster Intercultural and Intergenerational Belonging — is an Erasmus+ Cooperation Partnership in Youth running from September 2025 to April 2027. It is led by Associazione ValIda together with five partner organisations from Italy, Malta, Belgium, Greece, Austria, and France.

At the heart of the project is a simple but powerful principle: “Do not speak about us without us.”

We work with young people aged 18–25 — both local youths and those with Ethiopian migration backgrounds — to give them real skills in social communication and media production, while fostering genuine friendships, intercultural dialogue, and a sense of belonging. Together, they engage directly with Ethiopian diaspora communities and co-create media projects that tell honest, human stories about migration.

In Vienna, we discussed the project’s first milestones: the formation of local youth groups in all six partner countries, the development of the project’s visual identity, early engagement with Ethiopian diaspora communities, and the beginning of video project development.

What’s ahead? Online workshops in ethnography, social communication and media production, a collective photographic memory exhibition, a training residency in Rome where all youth groups will come together, and — as the final celebration — six public premieres of the youth-produced video projects across Europe.

We are building something meaningful here. Stay with us.
